Activate Xfinity modem allows you to activate your modem or gateway. Xfinity activation can be done on your modem or gateway using the Xfinity app as long as it is eligible. The Xfinity app should be downloaded on your device to begin the activation process.

How to Check if Your Device is Approved for Xfinity Services
To check if your device is approved for use with Xfinity services;
- Visit https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices/#unauth
- Enter your device name
- Click the search option
Xfinity Mobile App Download
Before you get started with the activation process for your modem with Xfinity, you should download the app first which is at no cost. The Xfinity app is available on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. To download the Xfinity app on Android devices;
- From the home screen of your Android device, navigate to Google Play Store
- Search for the Xfinity app in the provided space
- Select the app and click “Install”
To download the Xfinity app on iOS devices;
- From the home screen of your Android device, navigate to Apple App Store
- Search for the Xfinity app in the provided space
- Select the app and click “Install”
Xfinity Activate New Modem
For Xfinity com activate the modem on your Android device or iOS device;
- Launch the Xfinity app
- Sign in with your Xfinity ID and password
- After sign-in, you’ll be prompted to start activation (If you are not prompted to begin Xfinity activate modem as soon as sign into the Xfinity app, you should navigate to the activation entry point by selecting the Account icon from the top left corner of the Overview tab on the app. Select Activate xFi Gateway or Modem under the devices section.
- Find an active cable outlet in your home and connect the Coax Cable to the outlet and into the back of the modem. You should ensure both connections are finger-tight. (If you have Xfinity Voice, you should also connect your phone cord from the back of your phone receiver into the back of the modem after connecting your Coax Cable)
- Plug your modem’s power cord into an electrical outlet
- Enter your modem’s 12-digit MAC Number and click the next option
- Once your modem is connected to the Coax Cable in an active outlet and the power cord plugged into an electrical outlet, you’ll be required to check your connection
- Upon successful connection, Xfinity service will be activated on your modem
- Your Xfinity voice number will be displayed if your modem activation and provisioning were successful and if you do not have Xfinity Voice, you’ll receive a confirmation with your phone number.
Upon successful activation of your modem, you can see your modem name and offline/ online status, access Xfinity assistant for account concerns, view payment details and run speed tests on the devices you’re using with the Xfinity app.
How do You Activate a Modem on Xfinity?
If you are not required to begin Xfinity activate modem as soon as sign into the Xfinity app, you should navigate to the activation entry point by selecting the Account icon from the top left corner of the Overview tab on the app. Select Activate xFi Gateway or Modem under the devices section.
How Long Does it Take Xfinity Modem to Activate?
The activation process for your gateway or modem may take up to 10 minutes.
